By now I hope you’ve got the momentum you need to carry you through. By now, I hope it’s hard to imagine NOT getting in your 30 minutes.
The best advice I ever got when I was racing was “don’t get greedy.” What that meant was the even if I was feeling great I needed to just stay calm and run my own race.
The same hold true here. Don’t get greedy. Stay the course. Keep getting in your 30 minutes.
Day 71: 30 minutes slow walking on the treadmill. This would have been a sick day, but, didn’t want to give up now. Actually feel better after walking.
Day 72: 3 mile walk on the treadmill. I’ve committed to being the final finisher next Saturday’s Penguin in the Park 5K in Decatur, IL so I’m focusing on a solid walk pace this week.
Days 73 and 74. Same both days. 50 minutes walking on treadmill. Getting ready for the Penguin in the Park 5K on Saturday.
Day 75: Easy day. 30 minutes walking on treadmill. Still not feeling quite right. Need to be careful.
Day 76: 50 minutes walking on treadmill. Feeling ready for the Penguin in the Park on Saturday.
Day 77: 50 minutes walking on treadmill. Last long-ish workout before the Penguin in the Park 5K on Saturday.
For myself, I’m some combination of surprised, pleased, and proud to have made it this far. The next few weeks will be the most challenging. I’m not giving up now.
Day 78: 30 minutes walking on the treadmill. Travel day today. This was all I could get in.
Day 79: 5K race. A little over an hour. Some friends and I were the final finishers at the Penguin in the Park. Great fun.
Days 80 and 81. Dog walking with my son and grandchildren. A little different, but still fun.
Days 82 and 83. Dog walking with my son. It’s been hard to get any kind of organized training in, but, I’m still moving every day.
Days 84-87: Had a some travel and family issues that took me off the grid for several days. I got close.
We are getting SO close. I’m disappointed that I didn’t make it to 100, but I know that I’m not going to give up altogether. As I said at the beginning, if you get 95 days out of 100 that’s STILL better than almost everyone else.
Day 88: Back in the saddle today. 45 minutes walking on the treadmill.
Day 89: 40 minutes walking on the treadmill. 10 minutes on bike trainer. Feels good to be back at it.
